School Wellness Policy
Clarenceville School District is committed to creating a school environment that supports the physical, mental, and social health of every student. Our Local School Wellness Policy guides the district's efforts in nutrition education, physical activity, and overall student well-being.
Our Wellness Policy
The Clarenceville School District Wellness Policy was adopted by the Board of Education on May 14, 2026. The policy addresses:
- Nutrition Education — All students in grades Pre-K–12 receive annual nutrition education aligned with Michigan Health Education standards
- Nutrition Promotion — Consistent healthy food and beverage messaging throughout all school buildings
- Food & Beverage Standards — All foods and beverages sold to students meet USDA Nutrition Standards and Smart Snacks in School requirements
- Physical Activity & Physical Education — Students in grades K–5 receive a minimum of 40 minutes of PE per week and a daily recess period of at least 20 minutes
- Student Wellness — Social-emotional learning and student support programs are integrated across all buildings

All students in Michigan in grades Pre-K through 12 are eligible to receive a breakfast and lunch at no charge for the 2025-26 school year.
Wellness Policy Leadership & Committee
The District Wellness Committee oversees the development, implementation, and review of the wellness policy. The committee meets at least four times per school year and includes parents, students, staff, and community members.

Triennial Assessment
In accordance with USDA requirements, the district conducts a formal assessment of the wellness policy at least every three years to evaluate compliance, progress toward goals, and alignment with current model wellness policies. Assessment results are made available to the public.

Public Participation
The district welcomes public input on the wellness policy. Parents, students, school employees, health professionals, and community members may provide input during the wellness policy review and update process. All communications regarding the wellness policy are available via the district website and district-wide communications.
