Welcome to Grandview Elementary!

Hi there! I'm James Miller, the proud principal of Grandview Elementary. My journey in education began in my hometown of Monroe, Michigan, where I started as an elementary classroom teacher. Over the past 20 years, I’ve been fortunate to serve in a variety of roles, including technology integration specialist and administrator at both the elementary and high school levels. I earned both my bachelor's and master's degrees from Eastern Michigan University, where I discovered my passion for supporting students and helping them grow into confident, capable learners.

Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my family and doing the things I love. You’ll often find me out walking my dog Toby, playing a round of golf, exploring new technology, or cheering on Detroit’s sports teams. My wife Valarie is also an educator, and together we share a deep commitment to education and the success of all students.

At Grandview, I bring energy, enthusiasm, and a genuine love for learning. My goal is simple: to help every student reach their full potential. I believe in building strong relationships, keeping an open mind, and creating an exciting, welcoming environment where every child feels seen, supported, and inspired.
